KLM to Start Flights to Newark for People who want to go to New Jersey

AMSTERDAM—In a press conference on Thursday, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines has announced a daily Amsterdam to Newark, NJ flight starting with the winter schedule for people who want to visit New Jersey. CEO Marjan Rintel explained that KLM serves 13 cities in the USA, among them several popular East Coast destinations including New York, Boston, Washington and Miami, and is now taking the next step by following several European carriers in offering flights to Newark, NJ for people who want to visit New Jersey.

“You might be surprised we’re adding this somewhat odd destination to our network”, Rintel told reporters on Thursday. “We see potential in Newark, both in tourism as well as in business traffic. The city apparently has a river named Passaic which could potentially attract tourists and is probably nice; we haven’t checked it out as we don’t fly there yet. There is also Weequahic Park, Independence Park and a whole lot of cemeteries. There is also the Home Depot, the headquarters of Manischewitz Kosher Products and the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Newark Airport. But this is just the beginning. Newark is perfect for a day trip down the coast, or “Shore” as locals refer to it, with several attractions including the Keansburg Amusement Park (*closed for renovations), the home of Jon Bon Jovi, and you could even visit Atlantic City, the Las Vegas of the East Coast.”

Rintel also added that KLM was considering flights to Stansted for people who want to visit Canfield, Molehill Green or even Bishop’s Stortford.
